The Lika-Senj County is the largest Croatian county, encompassing 9.46% of the territory of the Republic of Croatia. The administrative center and the largest city of the county is Gospić. According to the 2021 population census, Lika-Senj County has a population of 42,893 inhabitants. The county holds a central geographical position and has significant connectivity within the territory of the Republic of Croatia. It largely belongs to the mountainous Croatia region, with a smaller portion in the Croatian littoral. 58% of the total area of national parks in the Republic of Croatia is located within Lika-Senj County. The Plitvice Lakes National Park is the oldest national park in Croatia and one of the most renowned national parks in Europe. There are also the Paklenica National Park, the Northern Velebit National Park, and the Velebit Nature Park in the region.
