Today, modern Ozalj is shaping its identity and tourist promotion on the foundations of valuable cultural and historical heritage and the region’s unique traditions. In the medieval period, Ozalj was in the possession of three of the most powerful Croatian feudal families. One of the most significant buildings within the old town of Ozalj, the Zrinski Palace, was commissioned by the renowned hero of Szigetvar, Nikola Šubić Zrinski in 1556. In terms of its historical significance, the town belongs to the first category of monuments, and the picturesque nature along the Kupa River provides a beautiful backdrop for the arrival of numerous cyclists.
