The City of Labin and the Labin Tourist Board Sign Partnership with CRO Race Organizers for the 10th Anniversary Edition of the Race.
Labin, April 29., 2025. – This morning, in the Grand City Hall of Labin, another multi-year cooperation agreement was signed, placing the City of Labin and the Labin Tourist Board among the official hosts of the 10th anniversary edition of the international cycling race CRO Race. The agreement was signed by Mayor Valter Glavičić, Director of the Labin Tourist Board Astrid Glavičić, and Race Director Vladimir Miholjević, officially making Labin a part of Croatia’s most prestigious two-wheeled sporting story once again. This marks the continuation of a strong and long-term collaboration between the City of Labin and Top Sport Events, the organizers of CRO Race.
“Labin is a city built on its mining heritage, but for years it has actively invested in the development of tourism and its tourist offer,” said Mayor Valter Glavičić after the signing. “Our old town provides a perfect backdrop for spectacular television shots, while our winding roads leading to Rabac attract more and more recreational and professional cyclists every year. With this partnership, Labin – still a hidden gem of the Istrian region – gains global exposure for its natural beauty, rich heritage, and culture. I’m confident that the stunning views of our city will take the breath away of both viewers and race participants, showcasing both the sport and the soul of the city.”
Tourist Board Director Astrid Glavičić emphasized the strategic importance of the race in extending the tourist season: “The power of CRO Race lies not only in its visual spectacle, but also in its role as a platform that gives tourist destinations renewed momentum at the end of the season. In recent years, Labin has positioned itself as a destination for active holidays – from adrenaline-packed single trails above Rabac to cultural tours exploring our mining history. That’s why I believe Labin will be incredibly appealing to both viewers and visitors of the race. Thanks to this cooperation, audiences around the world will get to see our sun- drenched coastline, olive groves ready for harvest, and the historic bell tower that dominates our skyline – everything that makes Labin so unique.”
The 10th edition of CRO Race will feature top-tier World Tour teams such as Arkea-B&B Hotels, Bahrain Victorious, INEOS Grenadiers, Red Bull – BORA hansgrohe, Team Jayco AlUla, and UAE Team Emirates XRG, guaranteeing competition at the highest level. Race Director Vladimir Miholjević emphasized that organizing the race demands extensive planning and logistics, but the enthusiastic response from participants and audiences is what drives the team to raise the bar year after year.
Miholjević also highlighted the unique energy Labin will bring to this year’s jubilee edition of the CRO Race: “CRO Race has thrived for ten years thanks to communities like Labin – towns and municipalities that understand how sport and tourism can grow hand in hand. The race will span six stages from September 30. until October 5., and Labin will undoubtedly pose another exciting challenge to this year’s competitors. I look forward to our collaboration and believe we’ll achieve great success again this year, together with all our partners – including Labin.”
Each stage of the race will be broadcast live, and one of the distinctive aspects of CRO Race lies in the carefully selected routes that, year after year, showcase the diversity of Croatian landscapes: from Kvarner islands and Istrian hills, to Dalmatian villages and urban centers.
“Our goal”, Mayor Glavičić concludes, “is that every visitor – whether arriving for the race or simply passing through – feels the unstoppable energy of Labin – a city where tradition, creativity, and sporting passion come together.”
